More like our regular nonsense

The violin story that Dan posted is very interesting, but last month, Gene Weingarten addressed a topic that's of significantly more import to this blog: Stupid sports bets -- in particular Gene's bet to Dave Barry that if he took a year off and practiced all day, every day, he could defeat the NBA's best free-throw shooter.

I resent the implication (well more than implication) that sports is all that ph4h cares about. Although I realize panhandling for the homeless doesn't exactly scream intellectualism. Still, music is for everyone. And, quite frankly, Joshua Bell was panhandling. Furthermore, he didn't keep the little money he did earn and I can't imagine that the Post took it, so perhaps it did go to the homeless. In which case, he's our first true representative!

You misread my implication. My intent was to imply only that (1) Joshua Bell is more highbrow than our usual content and (2) many of the members of PH4H enjoy making stupid -- and often sports-related -- bets.

And honestly, you shouldn't gripe about the content while you refuse to post.

None of us would even have a blog if there were no griping. You know you love it.

I thought my point about Joshua Bell was especially apt.

I agree. Joshua Bell, if he indeed did give the money to the homeless, should be our mascot. Joshua Bell bobbleheads, anyone?

Can we call them Bell-bleheads?

This, allegedly, is the link to the video of the entire Joshua Bell metro performance.
