About those Cubs

Last night they lost their 5th in a row to the Pirates, successfully claiming the worst record in the National League. At least last night, closer Ryan Dempster lost it in only 9 innings and wasn't blowing a save, though it was his wild pitch that scored the winning run.

Dempster continues to improve. Last night the Cubs were already trailing when he gave up a home run in the 9th inning of a 7-5 loss.

Dempster improvement report, Sept. 13 edition: the Cubs won yesterday despite his 8th blown save, and the run he gave up was unearned thanks to two errors and a run-scoring fielder's choice. Seems he's on his way to reclaiming superstar status.
